Karim has an extensive knowledge of technology use and trends in libraries. For 10 years he worked as the Director of Information and Technology Services at Chicago Public Library. As the IT Director in Chicago, Karim's work influenced the standard for libraries and library vendors worldwide and was even recognized by President Obama. After that he became the Digital Experience Director at the Pierce County Library, which earned the coveted National Medal for Museum and Library Services Award in 2013.
